Biography

Having enjoyed a broad-based Common Law practice in the earlier years of his career, Dermot has specialised in Family Law for the last fifteen years.  He practises in all areas of Public law and international child abduction.

Experience

Dermot has been in Gray’s Inn-based practice for 34 years, appearing principally in the High Court and Courts in the South-East, but was for nearly two years engaged in the North Wales (Waterhouse) Inquiry, instructed on behalf of the Welsh Office.

Recorder (Western Circuit) since 2003; Authorised to sit in Crime, Civil, Public and Private Family; Authority under section 9 of the Senior Courts Act 1981 to sit as a judge of the High Court, Family Division
