Biography
Julia has huge experience as an accomplished practitioner in all areas of family and children law. She specialises particularly in public law where she acts for local authorities, parents and children. Julia is instructed in complex cases involving serious allegations of sexual abuse and/or non accidental injury.
Julia is also regularly instructed in child abduction, removal from the jurisdiction and forced marriage cases.
Before joining Renaissance Julia worked at the Immigration Advisory Service preparing and presenting immigration appeals. Since being Called to the Bar Julia has continued her interest in immigration work and has always practised in immigration and human rights law. She appears at all levels of the Tribunal and Court systems. Julia has for many years undertaken pro bono work for Bail for Immigration Detainees.
Experience
Owing to her experience in both fields, Julia is often instructed in immigration matters where there are family issues and vice versa. She also writes expert opinions on immigration law in the context of family proceedings and lectures in both family and immigration law and practice.
Julia is a member of Chambers' pupillage committee and a pupil supervisor.
