Biography
Katy practices in Family Law specialising in public and private law cases relating to children including international children and matrimonial finance, ancillary relief, wardship and inherent jurisdiction, domestic violence (including all aspects of forced marriage) and Court of Protection. She appears at all levels in public law proceedings representing Local Authorities as well as parents.
In ancillary relief, Katy regularly acts in cases involving same sex couples, third party rights and interveners. She has been led in matrimonial proceedings involving a foreign jurisdiction and has experience of appearing in the Civil courts in claims under TOLATA. Katy also deals with claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
Experience
Before completing pupillage, Katy practised as a Solicitor with a well-known specialist Family firm. Since joining Renaissance, she has maintained a wide-ranging practice appearing in the High Court in cases involving forced marriage, child abduction and International matrimonial finance. She has a particular interest in cases involving a foreign element including International jurisdictional disputes in both children and matrimonial cases.
Katy also lectures on the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007.
