Biography
Pearl is an immigration and family law practitioner with a focus on human rights issues. Areas of practice include all aspects of immigration, asylum and European law, including humanitarian protection, deportation, fresh claims, entry clearance, unaccompanied minors and the Points Based System. She appears frequently before the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber) and Upper Tribunal and regularly undertakes Judicial Reviews in the Administrative Court as well as appearing in the Court of Appeal.
Experience
Pearl was previously involved with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She advised on policies and country situations and reviewed conditions of detention of asylum seekers, including those of unaccompanied minors.
She was also involved with the AIRE (Advice on Individual Rights in Europe) Centre where she drafted opinions on domestic immigration cases concerning their compatibility with the European Convention of Human Rights, drafted ‘Rule 36’ indications and prepared formal Observations in response to UK Government’s Observations.
Pearl sits as a Funding Review Adjudicator for the Legal Services Commission and is qualified under the Direct Public Access Scheme.
