Biography
Prior to completing pupillage at Renaissance, Sarah practiced in immigration and asylum law for six years as a caseworker in a not-for-profit organisation in South London. Whilst a caseworker, Sarah had conduct of her own specialist case-load and represented her clients at the Tribunal level.
Since joining Renaissance Chambers, Sarah has also become specialised in family law, both private and public children law proceedings, and has developed a mixed practice in family and immigration. Sarah has a particularly keen interest in cross-over issues within the two jurisdictions and is committed to publicly funded work.
Experience
Sarah has considerable experience in all aspects of immigration, asylum and human rights law in the Immigration and Asylum Chamber and the Higher Courts. Sarah has also been instructed by family solicitors to provide expert and independent immigration opinions for parties, who had immigration issues and were involved in care proceedings within the family courts. She has delivered training and presented lectures to practitioners on topics ranging from appeals in the Points-Based System, the overlap between family and immigration proceedings and criminal deportations and age disputes.
In family law, she is regularly instructed on behalf of local authorities as well as parents and children in care proceedings and has expertise in private law children matters. Other areas of practice also include cases concerning removal from the jurisdiction and adoption.
