  • Mark Venables - Senior Clerk

    Biography

    Mark has been at Renaissance since its inception in 2001.  He has over 25 years' clerking experience, most of which has been in Family law.  He was for 12 years Clerk to the former Attorney General, Baroness Scotland. 

    Mark is responsible for overseeing the clerking team and deals with professional matters relating to client care, fee negotiation, practice development and some marketing.

    Interests

    Mark is a keen squash player and enjoys following most sports, but especially the fortunes of Ipswich Town FC!  He also enjoys reading and is interested in early aviation history.

  • Elaine Cheeseman - Chambers Manager

    Biography

    Elaine is a former Senior Clerk but diversified into chambers finance & administration following a lengthy maternity break.  She commenced clerking at XXIV Old Buildings, was involved in setting up Selborne Chambers in 2002 and has since managed the finance/administration at Pump Court Tax Chambers and Falcon Chambers before joining Renaissance at the end of 2009.

    Elaine ensures the smooth running of all Chambers’ internal affairs as well as assisting with Members' practice development and marketing.  She is also the first point of contact for pupillage applications and client complaints.  She is a member of the Legal Practice Management Association.

    Interests

    Elaine enjoys music and the theatre and in her spare time can be found treading the boards as an amateur thespian (both musical and otherwise!).  She was a school governor for many years, first as a parent then on behalf of the local authority.

  • Steven Harris - Clerk

    Biography

    Steve joined Renaissance as a junior clerk in 2004.  He has since taken on a number of responsibilities and his main duties within the clerking team are diary management, Court listing and ensuring Members of Chambers receive their necessary briefs/instructions from clients.  He also assists with fee negotiation.

    Interests

    Steve mainly enjoys socialising with friends.  He is an avid football fan and has supported Chelsea, man and boy! 

  • Danny Jones - Clerk

    Biography

    Danny started his clerking career in 2005 and joined Renaissance in June 2011 after spending 7 years at Argent Chambers, where he was closely involved with developing the practices of the immigration tenants. His role now expands into family work as well as immigration and includes responsibility for general day-to-day management of diaries, liaising with clients, fee negotiation and the distribution of work to Members.

    Interests

    Danny enjoys most sports, going to the cinema and supporting Crystal Palace FC!

  • Asa Holt - Clerk

    Biography

    Asa only recently commenced his career in clerking. His role involves assisting Members of Chambers in getting to Court and general office administration

    Interests

    Asa's interests include music, art, reading, travel & football (big Arsenal fan!)

  • Robert Andrews - Fees Clerk

    Biography

    Rob commenced his clerking career in 2001 at Renaissance and worked his way up to First Junior. Having decided to join the Metropolitan Police in October 2008, he worked with them for 18 months before rejoining Chambers in May 2010.

    Rob takes the main responsibility for the processing and chasing of Counsels’ fees and is the first port of call for any fee queries.

    Interests

    Rob enjoys playing football at weekends and watching his favourite team, Millwall, especially when they beat local rivals like Charlton or West Ham. He also enjoys socialising with friends, particularly if a few pints and a spicy curry are involved!

  • Stephen Herbert - Clerk

    Biography

    Stephen commenced his career as a barrister’s clerk in 1969 and has been in various Chambers since, apart from a 5 year period when he worked as a Law Costs Draftsman.  He joined Renaissance as our part-time freelance billings clerk in 2008.

    Interests

    Stephen is interested in all sports, but particularly football (he is a long-standing Spurs supporter).  He also collects antiques and often visits Spain where he owns an apartment!

  • Sarah Nagle - Receptionist

    Biography

    Sarah commenced her career at 3 Verulam Buildings in 2009 and joined Renaissance in June 2011.  She is the friendly voice & face of Chambers and ensures our clients and visitors are made to feel welcome.  She also manages the catering and stationery facilities and assists with marketing events such as Chambers' seminars/parties.

     

    Interests

    Sarah's interests run to reading, swimming and socialising but she is happiest when out & about shopping!!
