Mark Venables

Practice Manager

Mark is responsible for the marketing, staffing and practice development of Renaissance Chambers. Prior to his recent appointment Mark had been clerking for 25 years, 9 of which were as joint senior clerk of Renaissance Chambers.

Mr. Venables has clerked at many chambers during his career including 4 Kings Bench Walk, 4 Paper Buildings and 1 Grays Inn Square.

As well as supporting both Ipswich and Southend F.C, Mark plays Squash to a competitive level.

Elaine Cheeseman  

Accounts Administrator   

Elaine commenced her career in 1977 at XXIV Old Buildings where she rose to become Senior Clerk by the end of 1983. In 1988 she took a lengthy career break to have her family, returning part-time to Lincoln's Inn in 1999, and by 2000 was back at XXIV as Chambers Administrator. She was subsequently involved in the setting up of Selborne Chambers in 2002 and has most recently been at Pump Court Tax Chambers, dealing with Chambers finances. She joined Renaissance in December 2009 and is a welcome addition to our team.

Elaine has three teenage sons and is currently Chair of Governors at their former primary school. She takes a keen interest in local affairs and stood as an independent candidate in the local elections in May 2006 (unsuccessfully!).

When time allows, Elaine enjoys music and the theatre, both performing as well as being in the audience. She also enjoys dining out whenever possible plus exercising her culinary skills entertaining on the home front.

Gregg Cook 

Fees and Administration Clerk

Gregg joined Renaissance Chambers in 2005 following a decade long career at various chambers and solicitors firms. Bringing a wealth of experience, Gregg was awarded the prestigious John Carter award in 2003 for finishing top of the class at that years Institute of Barristers Clerks B-Tec course. He puts this qualification to good use, pursuing payments and administering chambers on a daily basis.

He remains a member of the I.B.C and has organised the barristers clerks national 5-a-side tournament for the last three years.

Away from work, Gregg enjoys playing and watching football and considers himself a film buff.

Steven Harris

First Junior Clerk

Steven started his clerking career at Renaissance in 2004 and has worked his way up the ranks to his current position of first junior.

He is involved in chambers diary management and private fee billing.

Steven enjoys playing football and clubbing at the weekend.

Dexter Miller

Junior Clerk

Dexter joined Renaissance Chambers in October 2008. He shows great promise to the clerking world.

He is the chambers fixing and "brief transportation" clerk.

Dexter also holds a season ticket at the "Home of Football" cheering on Arsenal F.C

Charlotte Pegg

Receptionist

Charlotte started her career at Queen Elizabeth Building in 2003. She joined in 2007 to provide the "voice" and "face" to Renaissance Chambers.

In addition to her reception and general duties Charlotte is responsible for maintaining chambers facilities. She also provides assistance to the chambers Consultant and with the arrangements for chambers lectures.

Charlotte enjoys socialising and shopping.
